I am a teacher from Eastern Kentucky. I have been offered the incredible opportunity to teach at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Biology and Chemistry in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan. I couldn’t be more excited about this journey. On this site I will document this adventure and keep family, friends, and followers informed about the many exciting new experiences to come.
I worked in the business world (restaurant management, insurance, accounting, and other areas) in the Cincinnati/ Northern Kentucky area before selling almost everything I owned and moving to Morehead, KY to attend graduate school and become an educator. I have worked for 8 years as an English/Arts and Humanities teacher.
A friend went to Abu Dhabi to teach. I was trying to get a job teaching in a school in her network when this opportunity in Kazakhstan was posted. After phone interviews, a Skype interview, emails, tons of paperwork, and several verifications of documentation, I will teaching in Pavlodar for the 2014-2015 school year. So once again, I have sold everything and will start all over again.
I have lived in several cities in Kentucky and a few places in Ohio. I have traveled to several places in the US and Canada. This is my first overseas experience.
When I am not working with my students or on classroom projects, I read, knit, enjoy movies, and most types of the arts. I love museums, opera, and the circus.
I hope that you enjoy sharing this experience with me.
I like persons who are strong enough to encourage themselves to leave comfortable home for adventures and new opportunities at unknown places on the back-side of the globe. I am sure such persons will not give up themselves of facing culture differences and many inconveniences. I believe such persons are made of best quality stainless steel…
That you for your kind words, Mikhail! And, thank you for being a part of my journey.
