Arrival in Pavlodar

We arrived in Pavlodar on Saturday morning.  We do not have internet in the apartments yet, so I have not been able to post to the blog or elsewhere.  Getting settled in.  Today is the first day at school.  We had a quick, and I mean quick (maybe 15 minutes), opening address from the principal, then a school tour. Afterwards, we had our required employment health check. In a few moments, we will meet with our departments. The school is fascinating.  The staff has been great. Will post more when I have better connectivity.  Peace and love to you all.

My greatest loves…

Anyone who knows me will tell you, I love books, yarn, the circus, and pirates. I haven’t found yarn yet and I didn’t get to take any pictures at the bookstore today. But here are the circus and pirate that are within walking distance.

Circus and pirates…I think Kazakhstan has been waiting for me to get here!

The Last Week at Home

I leave one week from today. I have so many feelings and so much to do. And there is so much that I wanted to do before I left that will not get done! But if we wait until we are ready, we will never do anything.

I wanted to explain some aspects of this blog. Naming this site was an arduous task. I talked to several people about it. We brainstormed several ideas. I probably had some better ideas, but they got lost in the shuffle. In the end, “Kazakh: means free spirit and “stan” means land of. Hence, Journey in the Land of the Free Spirit. I am known as a bit of a free spirit, so perhaps Kazakhstan and I will be a good match.

I haven’t used WordPress for blogging before. I will have to see how this works out. I may have to change to another blog, but I am hopeful that this will be functional enough. I will let everyone know and post links if I do change.

Hope you all have a great week! I will post as I can while I am traveling. But there won’t be many more US posts. Soon there will be posts from a new place!!! Peace and love to you all!!
